Unity with all Christians

Updated: Jul 9, 2023

Despite being Catholic, I have loved being connected to all different Christians. I have learnt so much from my Protestant friends and their churches. I still attend one of my friend’s church when I can and have helped out with her youth group in addition to Mass and serving in my own parish.

I believe being ecumenical (connecting with other Christian denominations) is essential to Christian life. I have learnt so much about my faith and their faith. Certainly, Jesus wants us to be united in one belief, but we will always have different opinions to the person next to us, that’s just life. Catholics and non-Catholic Christians have so much in common, more than we think. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

I have gained insight into the goodness of so many Christian groups. Many Christian churches have such a vibrant, close knitted community. I have appreciated the commitment and dedication of seeing how other Christian Churches have formed strong communities, developed captivating worship services, and encouraged non-believers to establish a personal relationship with Christ.

I am very thankful that I was apart of the non-denominational Christian society, because through their service to the Lord, I learnt a great deal on the importance of having a personal relationship with God.

One thing I have really appreciated with Protestant churches is their strong commitment in studying the Bible. Of course, Catholics and Protestants have some differences in the Bible and how it’s interpreted; however, there can never be a greater gift than a person helping someone to learn God’s word, and put it in practice.
